Venice Biennale

Ian Weir Architect was one of 33 practices selected by the Australian Institute of Architects to represent innovation in architecture at the 13th Venice Architecture Biennale in 2012.



With the theme “Formations” the AIA curators on the unique constitution of their teams and the manner in which they conduct their work.



Ian Weir’s submission articulated how multiple modes of creative activity are conducted with a diverse group of individuals – all within one particular place: the remote, biodiverse landscapes of the Fitzgerald Bioregion in southern Western Australia. 

A stand-alone exhibition of Ian Weir Research Architect was held at the Contarini Boathouse Apartment in Dorsoduro Venice on 31st August 2012.
